HOUSTON (Sporting Alert) — All-Star guard James Harden has been criticized for departing Oklahoma City Thunder, following a breakdown in a contract extension, but the new Houston Rockets star took the time to tell his side of how things unfolded.
Many say the long range shooter was just too hasty to make a decision about a final four-year, $54 million offer from the Thunder, but the player said he had no choice, as he didn’t get enough time to think about anything.
“After everything we established – everything we had done – you give me an hour?” Harden was quoted as telling Yahoo! Sports on Monday.
He said he needed time to think and pray about the offer, but wasn’t given that chance.
Harden said it hurts.
“This was one of the biggest decisions of my life,” the new Rockets star said. “I wanted to go home and pray about it. It hurt me. It hurt.”
