(Sporting Alert) — Honduras rallied from two goals down draw 2-2 with Mexico in a CONCACAF last round qualifying game on Friday evening.
Mexico rushed out to a 2-0 lead with Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez scoring on both sides of 45 minutes, but Carlos Costly and Jerry Bengtson returned the favor to earn Honduras a share of the point.
Hernandez met a cross from Giovani Dos Santos at the near post to head Mexico into the lead in the 28th minute and the visitors took a 1-0 half-time lead.
The forward then guided home from close range off a corner kick 54th minute to send Mexico 2-0 up.
However, Costly pulled a goal back for the home side in the 77th before Bengtson got the equalizer three-minutes.
It was the second successive draw for Mexico who had played to a 0-0 draw at home with Jamaica.
USA with play Costa Rico and Jamaica will host Panama in the later games tonight.
