Jordan Pickford of Everton

NEWCASTLE – Newcastle United vs Everton team news for the football today English Premier League game at St James’ Park. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been dropped from Everton’s starting team.

Pickford has started all 120 Premier League games since joining Everton but a dip in form has apparently contributed to him being dropped. Robin Olsen, who is on loan from Roma, makes his Everton debut.

“It is not a technical reason, I just want to give him a rest,” manager Carlo Ancelotti said about the omission of Pickford.

According to the stats guru, Pickford’s only Premier League clean sheet this season came on the opening day at Tottenham. The England international has conceded two goals in four of last five Premier League appearances.

“I just want to give @JPickford1 a rest for this game and to give an opportunity to Olsen, to have minutes. Jordan will be back for the next game against Manchester United,” Ancelotti added.

Missing for today’s game are Richarlison and Lucas Digne who are both suspended, while James Rodriguez and Seamus Coleman are out because of injury.

Left-back Niels Nkounkou has been handed a Premier League debut, with Jonjoe Kenny also back in the fold. Kenny’s last Premier League appearance for the Toffees came in a 3-2 defeat against Newcastle in March 2019.

For Newcastle United, Steve Bruce makes one change from the side that played to a 1-1 draw with Wolves as Sean Longstaff comes in as a replacement for Ryan Fraser in midfield.
