MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Jose Mourinho believes that attacking midfielder Kaka will remain at Real Madrid in January, despite rumours linking the player away from the Spanish champions in the next transfer window.
Kaka has been struggling to win a consistent place in the Real Madrid side in the last couple of seasons, and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu.
However, Mourinho doesn’t expect the Brazilian to be sold next month, adding that he wants to keep him as “an extra option” in his side.
“I don’t think that Kaka will go anywhere,” Mourinho said in Marca on Friday.
“He will stay. And as I’ve said all along, if he stays then it is good for us because he provides us with an extra option.”
Reports have been linking Kaka to a move to U.S. Major League outfits Los Angeles Galaxy, with many seeing for the former AC Milan star as the likely replacement for the departing David Beckham.
There have been reports suggesting that a 30-year-old could also make a move back to Milan, with several Barclays Premier League teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham also reportedly interested.
A move to Manchester United looks highlight unlikely, with the club’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson already saying he will not be adding to his squad in the new window.
