Kaka left out of Real Madrid squad to face Barcelona

BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Jose Mourinho has named his squad for Thursday’s Spanish Supercopa clash against arch rivals Barcelaona, but there was no place for playmaker Kaka.

Kaka has been the subject of a move away San Bernabeu stadium with recent reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

Also left out of the squad were defender Ricardo Carvalho and midfielder Nuri Sahin, who also have been linked with a move away from the Spanish champions.

Portugal defender Pepe was also a notable absentee from the 21 member group for the clash at Camp Nou.

Mourinho confirms: “Pepe’s not going to play. He’d like to, but we’d rather he didn’t. It isn’t humane to risk a player for a football match, regardless of what match it is.

“We have no doubt, neither the medical department nor the coach, that he won’t play. He’s progressing very well and we both think and have a good feeling that on Sunday he’ll be completely in the clear. Albiol will play”.

Meanwhile, the strong line up includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuaín.

Goalkeepers:: Casillas, Adán, Jesús.
Defence: : Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Coentrão, Albiol, Arbeloa, Varane, Nacho.
Midfielders: Özil, Xabi Alonso, Granero, Khedira, Lass, Callejón, Di María.
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuaín, Morata.
