Kevona Davis wins at Champs 2019 - misses Carifta Trials

Standout Jamaican sprinter Kevona Davis, representing the University of Texas, flashed to an impressive 23.26 seconds to finish second in the women’s 200m at the Wooo Pig Classic indoor meeting, hosted by Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.

Her teammate, junior Kynnedy Flannel, posted the fastest time overall at 23.06 when winning heat five.

Davis Bounces Back – Results

Davis, who missed out in her first college race last week after she false-started in the 60m heat, bounced back with a quality performance to officially opened her collegiate career.

The freshman sped to victory in heat three to get home ahead of home favorite Jayla Hollis, who took second place in 23.35 in the third-best time overall.

Meanwhile, Flannel, who won the women’s 60m last week at the Corky Classic, moved up in distance this week to dominate her competitors.

Symone Mason (23.38) of LSU who finished behind Flannel had the fourth-best time on the day, while Rosey Effiong, who won her heat with 23.40, was fifth overall.

Jada Baylark (23.41) and Tiana Wilson (23.42) of Arkansas were sixth and seventh, respectively.

Elsewhere, Twanisha Terry of USC was a comfortable winner in the women’s 60m after clocking 7.14 seconds to beat Abby Steiner of Kentucky with 7.22 and Baylark (7.32).
