Kingston College, Rusea’s Lead At Champs 2019 After Day 2

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College and Rusea’s High are the early leaders at the end of Wednesday’s second day of action at Champs 2019 inside the National Stadium.

After two finals on the girls’ side, Rusea’s lead the way with 23 points, 10 more than defending champions Edwin Allen. Live results are available by following this link.

Shamella Donaldson led the way with victory in the class one girls discus final, while teammate Alisha Shaw finished fourth in the event to secure five big points.

Nine more points in the class two girls shot put stretched Rusea’s lead over the pack at the end of the day.

Monifa Edward’s third-place in the class two girls shot helped defending champions Edwin Allen closed the second day on 10 points, while St. Elizabeth Technical (STETH) are third with nine points.

Wolmer’s High and Excelsior High are tied for fourth on the girls side with seven points, followed by Vere Technical on six points, Hydel (4), St. Jago (3) and Mavis Bank and Holmwood Technical (2).

Meanwhile, after two scoring events on the boys’ side, Kingston College (KC) have the lead with 27 points, including 16 points from the class one boys’ long jump where Wayne Pinnock set an impressive 8.05m to win the event in record-breaking fashion.

Defending champs and fierce rivals Calabar are second on 16, all points coming from a quinella in the class two boys long jump.

Jamaica College (JC) are third on nine points, they are followed by STETHS in fourth with six, Wolmer’s Boys on five, and St Jago on four.

Also scoring after two finals were, Lacovia High on three points, Excelsior with two, Munro College and Cornwall College with one point each.
