LA Lakers, 122, Denver Nuggets, 103 – Recap

LOS ANGELES (Sporting Alert) — The Los Angeles Lakers hit 17-of-33 for 51percent from three-point range in their 122-103 victory over the Denver Nuggets here at Staples Center on Friday night.

Antawn Jamison was one of the main contributor again with 33 points and 12 rebounds on the night for the Lakers. The battling forward also hit 5-of-10 from behind the arc.

Dwight Howard was also big – scoring 28 points and 20 boards, while Jodie Meeks contributed 21 points in the win, as the Lakers rebounded from the defeat to the Indiana Pacers.

“It’s important that we spread the floor for Dwight,” said Los Angeles head coach Mike D’Antoni on

“That’s the thinking behind it. I don’t want to lose Jordan [Hill], I don’t want to lose Pau [Gasol], but at the same time we do have to spread the floor and we will continue to do that and look for spots for the other guys because they can play and they deserve to play and I wanted to play them,” the coach added.

Kobe Bryant went 5-of-15 from the field, including 0-of-3 from three pointer for his 14 points, with Metta World Peace putting in 10 points as well.

“[Jamison] was out there on the floor with us. He obviously has individual talent to do these things. He was on a pretty bad team last year and he had a pretty successful career and season individually,” said Bryant.

“Now he’s playing here with a bunch of players that can be a lot of potential so he has room to operate and he’s very comfortable doing it.”

Danilo Gallinari scored 19 points to lead the Nuggets, who have now lost three times on their three-game trip.

Andre Iguodala had 14 points and Jordan Hamilton added 13 in the defeat.

“I thought we fought to a degree and then they got it back up to twenty and our gas tank was fairly empty,” said Nuggets coach George Karl.

“I thought there was fatigue. Mental fatigue and physical fatigue. I was a little disappointed, but I think I have to be aware of the schedule…we are still in a very good place.

“We have got to keep playing our own game and figure out how to steal a few on the road.”
