On Tuesday night the Lakers will be hoping to rebound from the disappointing 113-103 defeat to the Orlando Magic on Sunday when they take on the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center and the visitors will be keen to respond to Bryant’s comments.
“I’ll kick everybody’s a** in this locker room if it doesn’t happen,” Bryant said after the disappointing Magic defeat. “It’s the attitude you have to have.
“Metta (World Peace) is the same way. Dwight (Howard) has it in him as well. Even though he smiles a lot, he cares a lot about this. Come hell or high water, this has to get done.”
The team, however, will have to do so without star forward Pau Gasol, who’s out of the game because of tendinitis.
“Pau is struggling a little bit physically,” said head coach Mike D’Antoni after the game. “His knees are bothering him and I just didn’t see him moving real good.
“Again, a lot of our offense is spreading the floor and I like Antawn (Jamison) where he is. But I’m not going to go away from Pau.
“He’ll get better physically, and as soon as he gets over this and that, he’ll be better.”
Meanwhile, the injuries to Steve Nash and Steve Blake has been creating several problems for the Lakers with D’Antoni giving replacing Darius Morris with Chris Duhon in the starting line up at the point guard spot for tonight’s game.
Former Oklahoma Thunder player James Harden, who is averaging 24.1 points per game and Chandler Parsons are expected lead the Rockets against the Lakers.
