LA LIGA STANDINGS-Barcelona continue to lead

MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Barcelona continue to lead the Spanish La Liga standings, following their big win over the weekend.

The Lionel Messi-led Barca side hammered Getafe 6-1 on Sunday to open up a 12 point lead over second place Atletico Madrid, who were shocked 2-0 at Rayo Vallecano on the same day.

Barcelona lead the La Liga standings with 62 points, with Atletico Madrid trailing in second place with 50pts.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick for Real Madrid in their 4-1 win over Sevilla on Saturday and although Jose Mourinho’s side remains 16 points behind Barcelona in the standings, to cut the gap between themselves and Atletico to just four points.

Isco netted twice for Malaga in their 2-1 win at Levante and they are fourth on 39pts, two more than Valencia, who are fifth on 37.

Rayo Vallecano (37), Real Sociedad (36), Betis (36), Levante (33) and Valladolid (33) complete the top ten teams in the La Liga standings.

Deportivo (16), Mallorca (18) and Celta (20) are in the bottom three.
