MIAMI, FL — NCAA college basketball scores from the AP Top 25 fixtures played on Thursday night, February 17, with No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 5 Arizona among the winners on the night.
No. 1 GONZAGA 96, SAN FRANCISCO 61
SPOKANE, Wash. — No. 1 Gonzaga stayed on course to finish the season undefeated after beating San Francisco 96-61 on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (27-0, 15-0 West Coast Conference), who hold the nation’s longest winning streak, are the only unbeaten team left in NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
Leading the way for Gonzaga on Thursday night was Nigel Williams-Goss, who finished with 30 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Przemek Karnowski added 23 points and seven rebounds and Johnathan Williams grabbed 11 rebounds for the Zags, who are aiming to become the first team since Kentucky in 2015 to go undefeated in the regular season.
Chase Foster scored 15 points off the bench and Matt McCarthy added 11 and eight rebounds for San Francisco, which has lost 11 straight to Gonzaga.
The Dons (18-10, 8-7), who were held to 35.5 percent (22-of-62) were losing for the 28th straight time in Spokane dating to 1989.
Gonzaga shot 50.8 percent on 32-of-63 shooting in the win.
No. 5 ARIZONA 78, WASHINGTON STATE. 59
PULLMAN, Wash. — Parker Jackson-Cartwright scored 20 points and Lauri Markkanen tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds to help fifth-ranked Arizona rallied for a 78-59 victory over Washington State on Thursday night
Rawle Alkins added 13 points and six rebounds for Arizona, which shot 55.6 percent from 3-pointers, with Jackson-Cartwright hitting four of the teams total of 10.
The Wildcats (24-3, 13-1 Pac-12) scored the game’s opening two baskets, but fell behind midway through the first quarter.
The Pac-12 leaders, however, used a 16-6 run over the last 7:34 to take a 40-31 lead at halftime.
Ike Iroegbu led Washington State with 17 points and five assists, with Robert Franks ending with 11 points and five rebounds off the bench.
The Cougars (11-15, 4-10) were losing five in a row and six of the last seven games.
Josh Hawkinson, who leads Washington State in scoring and rebounding with 15.3 points and 10.0 rebounds this season, was held to just seven points and eight boards against the Wildcats.
