NEW ORLEANS — New England responded to its opening week defeat to Kansas City by beating the New Orleans Saints 36-20 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Quarterback Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter and surpassed 300 yards passing in the first half for only the second time in his career as the Patriots jumped out a 30-13 lead at halftime.
Brady, who completed 30 of 39 for 447 yards without an interception, threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter for the first time in his career.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, Brady has now joined Warren Moon as the only quarterbacks at age 40 or older to pass for at least 400 yards and three TDs in the same game.
Rob Gronkowski had six catches for 116-yards and a 53-yard catch and run for a touchdown before leaving the game in the second half with a groin injury.
James White and Rex Burkhead also caught passes for TDs, while Mike Gillislee ran for a score for the Patriots (1-1).
Drew Brees finished 27 of 45 for 356 yards and two touchdowns for the Saints (0-2), who have dropped their opening two games to start the season for the fourth campaign in a row.

DENVER — At Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Trevor Siemian tied a career high with four touchdown passes and the Denver Broncos embarrassed the out-of-sort Dallas Cowboys 42-17 in Week 2.
Siemian, who threw three of his TD passes in the first half, finished 22 of 32 for 231 yards with an interception in a game that was delayed by an hour.
C.J. Anderson carried the ball 25 times for 118 yards and a score and also caught a touchdown pass for the Broncos, who led 21-10 at halftime and extended the lead to 35-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
Emmanuel Sanders caught two passes for scores and Virgil Green added another catch for a score for Denver (2-0).
Meanwhile, Dallas star running back Ezekiel Elliott was limited to 8 yards on nine carries — the worst game of his career.
Jason Witten caught 10 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown, Dez Bryant took a catch for a score as well, while Dak Prescott went 30 of 50 for 238 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions for the Cowboys (1-1), who were held to just 40 yards on the ground.

ATLANTA — Matt Ryan threw for 252 yards and a touchdown and Devonta Freeman ran for a pair of scores and 84 yards and the Atlanta Falcons secured a 34-23 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Sunday Night Football.
The Falcons (2-0) who were beaten by the Patriots in the Super Bowl last season, went into the halftime break on Sunday night with a 24-7 lead and build it to a 31-7 advantage late into the third quarter.
Julio Jones caught five passes for 108 yards and Mohamed Sanu held on to five of his six targets for 85 yards for Atlanta in the win.
Aaron Rodgers was 33 of 50 for 343 and two touchdowns with an interception and a fumble for a lost for the Packers (1-1), who scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter but still came up well short.
In other latest NFL scores, the Kansas City Chiefs survived late to hold on for a 27-20 win over Philadelphia Eagles, the Miami Dolphins also picked up a close 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, while the Minnesota Vikings fell 26-9 to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
