MELBOURNE, Australia, Sporting Alert - Latest results of the 2018 Australian Open Men's Singles matches on Day 5 at Melbourne Park on Friday, Jan. 19.

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year.

World number one Rafa Nadal led the way on the fifth day of action after the Spaniard eased into the fourth-round.

Nadal cruised to a 6-1 6-3 6-1 victory over Bosnia’s No. 28 seed Damir Dzumhur at Margaret Court Arena to secure a spot in the fourth-round for the 11th time in Melbourne.

The 31-year-old who won the French Open and US Open titles last year, was a finalist at the last Australian Open.

Nadal won the Australian Open crown in 2009.

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov, the world No. 3 got the better of No. 30 Andrey Rublev to advance to the fourth-round.

Dimitrov defeated Rublev 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 to reserve a spot in the round of 16 and avenged his second-round loss to the Russian at last year’s U.S. Open.

Elsewhere, world No. 11 and 10th seed Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain picked up a 7-6(4) 4-6 7-5 7-5 victory over the Big-serving Gilles Muller in the third round, while Croatian No. 6 Petra Martic booked a slot in the Australian Open fourth round for the first time in seven appearances with a 6-3 3-6 7-5 win over Thai qualifier Luksika Kumkhum.

Australian Nick Kyrgios continued his impressive showing in Melbourne after beating Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at Rod Laver Arena.

In one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament thus far, Kyrgios landed a 7-6(5) 4-6 7-6(6) 7-6(5) win over Tsonga and advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time since reaching the quarter-final in 2015.
