SHEFFIELD (Sporting Alert) — Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday will deliver a high intensity night of football in the Championship tonight at Hillsborough on Friday night.
The was the prediction of Leeds manager Neil Warnock, who is believes the game will “probably be like wacky races.”
Sheffield Wednesday had a very impressive start to season, where the team picked up seven points from a possible nine.
However, Dave Jones’ side has lost six of their last seven league games since that quality start and Warnock is bracing for anything.
“The start they had may have given them too many expectations,” he said on Leeds United official website at www.leedsunited.com. “I don’t think they’ve played badly, they’ve just given away silly goals.
“A bit like us.
“Dave (Jones) is like me, and he knows you just have to rectify it to get where you want to go.
“It’ll probably be like wacky races when it gets going on Friday.
“It won’t be like watching England play I can assure you of that.”
Owls manager Jones is also preparing his side for the local derby which is expected to have the highest attendance in the division so far this season.
“Name me any club in this division that wouldn’t be a big game or a tough game,” Jones said on www.swfc.co.uk.
“It’s the division that we have come in to.
“For those who had forgotten what it was like in this division and those who looked forward to it, it’s been an eye-opener.
“We spoke about how difficult it was going to be, how hard you have got to work, how positive you have got to be and how professional you have got to do it.
“It’s not like a running tap you can turn on and off – you have to go full pelt all the time and that is what we are trying to do.”
Meanwhile, around 30,000 supporters are set to be at Hillsborough for the clash Friday night and Warnock is already preparing himself and team for a hostile welcome.
“I have my rivalry with them going back to Sheffield United, but I enjoy that,” he said.
“It’s two great clubs on Friday, and I always enjoy going to Hillsborough.”
