LIVERPOOL (Sporting Alert) — Tottenham are without winger Aaron Lennon for today’s Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

Lennon picked up a hamstring injury late in the Europa League win over Inter Milan in midweek and has not recovered in time to feature today.

However, the streaking Gareth Bale takes up his free-role position in the Premier League’s hottest side and will look to continue his goalscoring touch against a Liverpool side which is playing good football at the moment and still believing it can make the top four.

Lewis Holtby starts on the bench, but Scott Parker Mousa Dembele and Gylfi Sigurdsson all start for Spurs.

Meanwhile, Brad Jones will be in goal for Liverpool, who are without regular first choice Pepe Reina, while veteran defender Jamie Carragher makes his 500th league appearance for Liverpool.

The Reds’ attack will include the returning Daniel Sturridge, who will play alongside Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho in what should be a very difficult force to contain.

Liverpool v Tottenham

Liverpool: Jones, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Jose Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez, Coutinho, Sturridge.
Subs: Gulacsi, Skrtel, Shelvey, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Wisdom.

Tottenham: Lloris, Walker, Vertonghen, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Parker, Livermore, Bale, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Defoe.
Subs: Friedel, Huddlestone, Gallas, Naughton, Holtby, Caulker, Carroll.

Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland)
