(Sporting Alert) — Lionel Messi and Neymar will lead their respective teams when Argentina take on Brazil in a friendly international game at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.
Brazil are coming into game after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Mexico in another friendly game, while Argentina was very impressive in their 4-0 win over Ecuador in their World Cup qualifier last week.
Neymar and his Brazilian teammates were feeling good about their Olympic Games preparation after the 4-1 thumping of the United States, prior to the Mexico defeat – and Santos FC striker says nothing has change, despite the slight setback.
“We are not 23 men selected in the street, we are very good players chosen of many to represent Brazil,” Neymar said ahead of the clash.
“We are confident of winning the match and arriving in good shape to the Olympics.”
In their last outing Argentina went with three attack wit Messi, Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain all starting.
However, Higuain will start this encounter on the bench with Messi and Aguero leading the attack.
Messi, once again had brilliant season with Barcelona Brazil coach Mano Menezes had high praises for the little man.
“We will play against Messi, the best in the world,” Menezes. “He has a great ability and the ball can’t reach him with the freedom that it did during their game against Ecuador.
“If we show the same attitude in this kind of match, the team will have taken a further step towards confirming that we are on track and will be well prepared for London 2012”.
