LIVERPOOL (Sporting Alert) — Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers named unchanged side from the team that shocked Newcastle United 6-0 for today’s English Premier League Merseyside derby clash with Everton at Anfield.
This means that the retiring Jamie Carragher keeps his place in the starting line-up in what is the 30th and final Merseyside derby for the veteran defender.
Captain Steven Gerrard, who netted a hat-trick in last season’s 3-0 victory for Liverpool also starts in midfield and he will be hoping to add to his goal tally, as he’s only two away from scoring 100 Premier League goals.
Daniel Sturridge will again lead the attack with Luis Suarez out for the season because of suspension, with 19. Stewart Downing Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho all starting as well.
Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates, who has been linked with a move away from Liverpool, are on the bench.
Everton in the meantime, make one change from the side that featured in the last outing with midfielder Darron Gibson replacing Nikica Jelavic, who has been dropped to the bench.
