LIVERPOOL (Sporting Alert) — Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will make his 600th appearance when he leads the Reds out against Newcastle United in Barclays Premier League at Anfield.
Liverpool are in need of points and the England international is hoping his milestone day will end on the positive side.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has decided to go unchanged with the team which played to a 2-2 draw in last weekend’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton.
That means Nuri Sahin, Suso, Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling all start. Brad Jones also starts in goal, but the was no Pepe Reina.
Newcastle, in the meantime, make three changes from the team that recorded victory over West Bromwich the last time out in the league.
Papiss Cisse, Vurnon Anita and Steven Taylor all return to the starting line-up, while Demba Ba recovers in time for the clash as well.
