The Lakers vs Clippers tickets were the hottest in the league this week, as the two teams which share the same arena, looking for bragging rights in their own backyard.
Clippers are current on a two game losing streak, but had a brilliant start to the season, with their franchize record of 17 games won in a row snapped by Denver Nuggets recently.
There are many, who still believe the Clippers (25-8) still have a lot of work to do to be a legitimate title contender, but Lakers guard Bryant disagrees.
Asked if their neighbours were playing like a team capable of winning the title, Bryant said: “Oh, for sure. For sure.
“They’re definitely one of the top contenders.”
Commenting on the game at Staples Center on Friday night, the All-Star said: “I think they’re expected to blow us out.
“They expect the Clippers to come in and run all over us.”
The Clippers are coming off a disappointing 115-94 defeat at the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday and are determined to beat the Lakers ahead of their return clash with the Warriors on Saturday.
“They’ve dropped their last two games so they’re coming in with a lot of motivation,” Bryant said.
“We obviously have all the motivation in the world. So, it should be an interesting matchup.”
Bryant added that the new look Clippers team have certainly brought “Showtime” to the NBA this season and he’s admitted that they are “fun” to watch.
“They’re very spectacular and they’re fun to watch,” he said.
“There’s no question about it. They have higher jumpers than ‘Showtime’ did, though.”
Lakers (15-16) have dropped two of its last three games, including the New Year’s Day 103-99 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers, and Bryant says its not getting any easier for a team he called old.
“It’s a big stretch for us,” he said. “We got to turn things around.
“At this stage of the year going against some of these top teams, it’s a tough stretch but it’s a chance to see what we’re made of.”
