(Sporting Alert) — Louisville and Kansas, the only No. 1 seeds left in the tournament, will be hoping to avoid any drama when the NCAA March Madness Tourney continues on Friday night.
On Thursday night, another top-seed Indiana were upset by Syracuse and they joined Gonzaga who were beaten in the third round of the tournament.
“It’s almost the same situation that our football team runs into when teams are trying to get ready for them. They play so much faster and their team speed is different,” Ducks coach Dana Altman said Thursday.
“I don’t think teams can really get ready for our football team. … And I don’t think we can prepare for the speed of Louisville: their quickness, their guard quickness, their overall team speed and the different looks they throw at you.”
The Cardinals have been impressive in its first two games of the tournament – walking over North Carolina A&T 79-48 and hammering Colorado State 82-56.
“They beat people up mentally as much as physically,” Altman added. “If you’re not focused, if you make a mistake, they get those runs that they just turn a game around.”
Kansas (31-5) will take on Michigan (28-7) in another game tonight night after thrashing the North Carolina Tar Heels 70-58 on Sunday in their third round game.
Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. are two of the Wolverines (28-7) players the Jayhawks (31-5) must pay close attention to Kansas coach Bill Self also admits this.
Elsewhere, Duke (29-5), following its shaky 66-50 win over Creighton, will be hoping to for a big time improvement against a Michigan State (27-8) side many are backing to reach the Final Four this season.
And what could be the game of the night is the clash between the 15th-seeded Florida Gulf Coast (26-10) and the third-seeded Florida Gators (28-7) at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.
Florida will be looking to go to elite-eight for the third straight season.
