(Sporting Alert) — Arsenal will kick-start its preseason campaign with a friendly game against a Malaysia XI on Tuesday night.
The Barclays Premier League side recovered well from a poor start to the season last year to take third in the league and manager Arsene Wenger hopes his players will use the preseason term as a major part of its quest for success in the coming season.
Meanwhile, Wenger has decided on his team which will start the first warm up game.
Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh has been given a chance to prove himself for starting places this season as he will start in the forward position with Gervinho.
The starting team also includes goalkeeper Vito Mannone, with Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski both on the bench.
Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby are also in the starting team, while Thomas Vermaelen captains the side, as regular Robin van Persie did not travel with the team.
Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, who were both members of England Euro 2012 squad are both on the bench. But the likes of summer recruits Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud will not be involved.
