(Sporting Alert) — Manchester City made a disappointing start to their preseason campaign, after losing 1-0 to Al Hilal on Friday in Austria.

Manager Roberto Mancini selected a very strong team for the opening 45-minutes, but the reigning Barclays Premier League champions were unable to show their superiority and fell 1-0 to the top Saudi side.
Shaker Nawaf Alabid netted the winning goal for Al Hilal in the 69th minutes when he blasted past substitute goalkeeper Eirik Johansen.
Manchester City were without several players, including Euro Championship title winner David Silva, who is still resting after his lengthy season with the Spain national team.
Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko were not involved either.
However, the likes of Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, Carlos Tevez, Pablo Zabaleta and Aleks Kolarov were all named in the starting eleven.
