MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — As expected, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recalled midfielder Paul Scholes to his starting line-up for this evening’s Barclays Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

Scholes had missed Manchester United’s shocking 1-0 defeat to Wigan in midweek, but is back in place of Ryan Giggs.
“We did the right thing resting Paul on Wednesday,” Fergie said. “It may not have looked like that to the fans, but three games in seven days would have been a big ask.”
Also returning is striker Danny Welbeck, who replaces Javier Hernandez, who was disappointing in the Wigan defeat, while Rafael also come in for Phil Jones, who are all on the bench.
Ashley Young makes a return to his former side, while Nani, Tom Cleverley and Dimitar Berbatov are all on the substitutes bench.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa continue to be without striker Darren Bent, who is still injured.
