Manchester United At CSKA Moscow: Possible Starting Lineups

MOSCOW, Russia, Sporting Alert — Manchester United and CSKA Moscow will clash in a Champions League Group A fixture at VEB Arena on Wednesday and the following are the Possible starting lineups for the teams.

Both teams are searching for their second win in the group stages after Manchester United eased past FC Basel 3-0 in the opener and CSKA Moscow edged Benfica 2-1 in their opening round game.

The Red Devils travel to Russia without several key members, especially in midfield, but the English Premier League side will still start as the favorite to pick up all three points on Match Day 2.

Midfielders Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini joined Paul Pogba on the sideline, while manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that centre-back Phil Jones will also miss the encounter.

“I won’t have Fellaini, I won’t have Pogba, we won’t have Carrick, so all three midfield players that we lose for this match,” Mourinho told reporters at his press conference.

“So there are not many solutions, but we try not to focus on individual battles or in specific areas on the pitch.

“We try to focus on the globality [team as a whole] and we are going to have a team with quality, with balance, to try to win the match which is our objective.”

Right-back Antonio Valencia will also miss the game.

Meanwhile, in terms of the starting teams, Manchester United could make as many as four changes to the side with Ander Herrera expected to pair off with Nemanja Matic in the midfield.

Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian are also set to return to the starting team.

In the meantime, Mario Fernandes (concussion) remains doubtful for CSKA Moscow.
