SHANGHAI (Sporting Alert) — Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Manchester United are in talks over a possible move to bring Sao Paolo’s Lucas Moura to Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Brazilian in recent weeks, with reports even claiming that the Barclays Premier League club already struck a deal to land the midfielder for £26million.
But while the experienced manager admits to wanting the Brazil starlet, he has insisted no deal has been reached for the 19-year-old winger.
“It’s not correct. We haven’t reached an agreement for the player,” Ferguson said on Manchester United official website at www.manutd.com.
“We have shown an interest, but until such time a we get a deal agreed, we can’t say he’s our player.”
Manchester United have been busy strengthening their squad for the new season and have already added Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell tot he roster this summer.
Ferguson is interested in adding a few more players and has even recently admitted that he has a keen interest in signing Arsenal want-away forward Robin van Persie.
“We’ve signed two players in the summer: Kagawa and Powell. We think they both have fantastic potential,” he said.
“At this moment, we’re looking at other options in terms of bringing other players in.
“We’re not lying on our backsides doing nothing. We’re trying hard to bring other players to the club.”
