Manchester United v Manchester City Derby TV Channels and Preview

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and Rafael are both set to return for Manchester United in Monday’s Barclays Premier League Manchester derby clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford.

The live coverage will be on ESPN, Sky Sports 1/HD, ESPN3, SuperSport 3 Africa, SuperSport 10, True Sport 1, Canal+ Sport, SuperSport Maximo, SuperSport Live, amongst others.

Rooney missed the win over Sunderland in the Premier League and the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea with a groin injury, but is back in training and will return to play alongside Robin van Persie in the attacking line.

Meanwhile, right-back Rafael is set to return in the defence, but Nemanja Vidic (back) and Jonny Evans (hamstring) remains doubtful.

Manchester City hammered their city rivals 6-1 last year to stun the Old Trafford faithfuls, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson says the team has already moved on.

“Any United player being involved in that game last year would have to feel it,” said Ferguson.

“We have had experience like that before against Liverpool when Giggs, Scholes and Beckham were signing autographs for their fans, who immediately tore them up in front of them.

“Those things stick in your mind.

“The way we lost it definitely resonates with a lot of people in the club.

“The only way you can get over that kind of thing is to be better.

“There was a definite purpose about them in terms of getting the title back, particularly to take it back off City.”

Manchester City, in the meantime, have midfield playmakers David Silva and Samir Nasri fit after they recovered from minor knocks in last week’s win over Newcastle, while Carlos Tevez could start alongside Sergio Aguero in the attack.

Manchester United, which holds a 15 point lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League standings, defeated Manchester City 3-2 the last time they met in the league this season, with Van Persie scoring the winner.
