Argentine international Angel Di Maria completed his £59.7million British record breaking move to Old Trafford from Real Madrid, but obviously will not be in action this evening when his side travel for the tie.

In the starting team though are Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, who starts up front as Van Gaal makes ten changes to his Manchester United side that played against Sunderland in the English Premier League on Sunday.

The game will see Saidy Janko and Reece James both making their competitive first-team debuts, while Nick Powell, Shinji Kagawa and Anderson all start as well.

Only David de Gea keeps his place in the side, while Michael Keane and Jonny Evans, who captains the team tonight on his return from the leg injury, start in the four man backline.

As expected, there is no Juan Mata, Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones in the match day squad at all, but Adrian Januzaj and Wilfried Zaha are amongst the substitutes.

Manchester United enters the game strong favourites to move on after winning five of their last six matchups with teams from a lower division.

However, the EPL giants will keep in mind that the last time they played in the League Cup second round they suffered a shocking 4-3 aggregate defeat to York City, in October 1995.

MK Dons XI: Martin, Lewington, McFadzean, Kay, Potter, Bowditch, Reeves, Grigg, Alli, Baldock, Carruthers. Subs: McLoughlin, Green, Spence, Randall, Powell, Hitchcock, Afobe.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, M Keane, Evans, Vermijl, James, Powell, Janko, Anderson, Hernandez, Kagawa, Welbeck. Subs: Amos, McNair, Thorpe, A.Pereira, Zaha, Januzaj, Wilson.
