MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United have picked a strong squad for the final phase of its preseason tour in Europe.
After experimenting with his youth and reserve players, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has now recalled his super stars for the two games in Europe.
In a sold-out match on Sunday, United will play against Norwegian top-flight side Valerenga before traveling to Sweden to take on Barcelona in Gothenburg on August 8.
Amongst the players included in the 21-man squad were Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Nani, Ashley Young, Phil Jones, David De Gea and Patrice Evra, all of whom were not with the squad in the earlier game.
New summer signings Nick Powell and Shinji Kagawa, who both impressed the manager since they joined the club, are also in the squad and are expected to play some part in the games overseas.
