MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United have rejected an offer from Chelsea for striker Javier Chicharito Hernandez, reports are claiming on Friday.
Sir Alex Ferguson landed world-class forward Robin van Persie on Friday, which meant that Hernandez faced more competition for playing time at Old Trafford, which led to reports suggesting that the Mexican could leave.
According to ESPNFC, Chelsea made an inquiry and apparently an “official cash offer” move for the striker, but Manchester United rejected their offer, as Ferguson soundly has him in his plans for the coming season.
“My situation now is I have the possibility that I can play (Wayne) Rooney through, Van Persie through, Chicharito through and I’ve got Danny Welbeck, who can play through,” Ferguson said at his press conference.
“… We also have young Federico Macheda, who is only 20 years old and still improving,” he added.
Hernandez also made note that despite the wealth of strikers challenging for place, he has no plans of leaving Manchester United.
“there are parts of your life when you’re going to have competition,” he was quoted as saying recently. “Having that competition in the team can be good. I will be ready when the manager wants me to play.”
Manchester United will open its Barclays Premier League campaign away to Everton on Monday.
