Manchester United set to sell Nani?

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United are in discussions to sell winger Nani, reports on Thursday are claiming.

Nani, it is believed, has failed to persuade manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he will be a consistent performer during the season and following a contract talk meltdown, Zenit St. Petersburg is now reporting that they in negotations to acquire the Portugal international.

Nani got the nod from Ferguson in the Barclays Premier League season opener against Everton, but picked up an early yellow card and then turned in a very disappointing performance.

He was dropped for the game against Fulham, before coming off the bench to setup Robin van Persie’s winner from a corner kick against Southampton on Sunday.

Zenit St. Petersburg have already captured Brazilian striker Hulk and Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel on a big money $101 million combo, but apparently are still looking to add to the squad before the Russian transfer window closes on Thursday.

“‘It’s true we are negotiating for Nani and [Joao] Moutinho, but Hulk and Witsel were our top priorities,” Zenit’s Maxim Mitrofanov was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail paper.
