MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Striker Robin van Persie and attacking playmaker Shinji Kagawa are both expected to feature for Manchester United, when the Red Devils take Wigan at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The pair were reportedly doubtful for the Barclays Premier League clash after picking up minor injuries on international duties in midweek.
Van Persie, who has been in remarkable form in the last two games for United since joining the club in the summer, was doubtful after he was substituted in the Netherlands World Cup qualifier because of a tight hamstring problem, while Kagawa sat out Japan’s win over Iran because of a back problem.
The players both trained on Friday morning and United manager Sir Alex Ferguson expects them both to be involved in the match.
Ryan Giggs is in line to make his 600th Premier League appearance, while Paul Scholes is set for his 700th game for the club and Rio Ferdinand could make his 400th.
Meanwhile, Ashely Young returns from a knee problem and is in the game squad, but the likes of Chris Smalling (broken metatarsal), Wayne Rooney (thigh) and Phil Jones (knee) are all out.
For Wigan, manager Roberto Martinez could hand on-loan Arsenal striker Ryo Miyaichi his first start.
