(Sporting Alert) — Syracuse and Ohio State were amongst the title favourites advancing to the elite-eight in the NCAA College March Madness Basketball Tournament on Thursday night.
Top-seeded Syracuse held off a very strong challenge from Wisconsin to win the game 64-63, on the same night when another top-seeded team, Michigan State, was beaten.
Louisville picked up an upsetting 57-44 victory over the Michigan State Spartans at US Airways Center in Phoenix, with Chane Behanan scoring 15 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
Star forward Draymond Green finished with 13 points and 16 boards for the Spartans, but he said the Cardinals had a massive advantage with Gorgui Dieng in its line-up and he was tough to get past.
Dieng finished with nine rebounds and seven blocks.
“”He was very disruptive,” Green said. “We’re not going to back down from anyone.
“We took it at him. He pulled off some great blocked shots. That’s what he does. That’s his strength.”
