(Sporting Alert) — Three Florida teams, including No. 15 seed Florida Gulf Coast progressed to the last-16 of the NCAA March Madness tournament on Sunday. The following are all the results on March 24.

Florida Gulf Coast (26-10) stunned No. 7 seed San Diego State (23-11) 81-71 to become the first 15 to reach the Sweet 16, to create the biggest upset on Sunday.

Bernard Thompson scored 23 points and Sherwood Brown added 17 points and eight rebounds as the Eagles made victory look fun.

“We don’t take ourselves too seriously,” said Florida Gulf Coast coach Andy Enfield.

“We try to have fun, get serious when we have to.

“Our goal was to make history and we did it.

Jamaal Franklin finished with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds for San Diego State.

“They play with a swagger, and they have a right to do that,” said San Diego State coach Steve Fisher.

“You can have that look and feel, but you have to compete and play to earn your spurs, and they’ve done that.”

The two other Florida team in the last 16 are Miami (FL) and Florida.

The No. 2 seeded Hurricanes (29-6) fended off the challenges of Illinois (23-13) to move on with a 63-59 victory with Rion Brown leading the way for the winner with 21 points.
