The win now sees the Heat moving one game away from lifting the title.

James looked as though he was battling with pain, but the MVP was to determined not to let this one slip away.

“He was hurting,” Dwyane Wade said of James. “But that’s what it’s about this time of the year.

“It would hurt more if we lose the ballgame, so it feels a little better if you can win it.

“Obviously James is one of the most dominant players in the game, and he explodes many nights scoring-wise,” he said.

“But we’ve always got his back, and certain nights like tonight when he wasn’t feeling his greatest, you have guys like Mario Chalmers step up, big plays, big moments.

“That’s what this team is built on, and that’s the reason we’re playing together.”

Mario Chalmers scored 25 big time points in a good supporting role for the Heat, which had to come back from a big deficit, which the Thunder opened up in the first quarter of the game.

Wade also had 25 points in the victory, while Chris Bosh contributed 13 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook had a game high 43 points on 20 of 32 shooting – to lead all scorers, but was criticized for his error towards the end of the game when he fouled Wade too early – rather than trying to get a stop first.

Kevin Durant finished with 28 points – but no other Thunder player managed to score in double figures.
