MLS tried to lure Didier Drogba last season

NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Powerful striker Didier Drogba continues to be linked with several moves away from his new club, Shanghai Shenhua.

The former Chelsea frontman, who only recently joined the Chinese club, after leaving the Barclays Premier League side last at the end of last season, has now been heavily linked with a move back to England, although he constantly down play the reports.

It was only recently also that U.S. Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber apparently admitted that they made a brave move Drogba to join the league, prior to him deciding to move to Shanghai Shenhua.

Speaking at Bloomberg Sports Business Summit this week, Garber said that MLS offered Drogba more than $10 million-a-year in an attempt to lure him to the USA, but failed in their bid.

The Ivory Coast towering forward had stated that he would renew a contract with the Blues and he eventually left Stamford Bridge after his side lifted the Champions League last season.
