DALLAS (Sporting Alert) – Kobe Bryant scored 14 of his game-high 38 points in the fourth quarter and the Los Angeles Lakers picked up an exciting 103-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday at American Airlines Center.

Bryant, who was coming off a 40 point performance in the win over the Portland Trail Blazers, added 12 rebounds and seven assists in the win for the Lakers, which scored  its third straight victory.

In the midst of that all, Bryant, who shot 13-for-21 from the field and made all five of his attempts from the field, also became the youngest player in NBA history to score 31,000- point, doing so at age 34. The All-Star guard surpassed Wilt Chamberlain’s mark of 36.

Bryant is the second oldest player in NBA history to score at least 38 points, while shooting at least 60 percent in successive games. He also went 4-for-5 from three point range on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Dirk Nowitzki, playing his best game of the season thus far, paced the Dallas Mavericks with 30 points and 13 rebounds.

Vince Carter added 15 and Elton Brand scored 14, for the Mavericks, which had its three-game win streak snapped.
