Defending champions Miami Heat picked up a 114-108 victory over the Houston Rockets at AmericanAirlines Arena, with LeBron James finishing with 32 points and Dwyane Wade grabbed 31. James Harden top score for the Rockets with a game high 36 points.

The Rockets were coming off a massive night on Tuesday where they scored 140 points against the Warriors and Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was happy to keep them quiet.

“We held them to 108,” Spoelstra said. “That team can score.”

Meanwhile, James added: “They have no quit in them and it starts with their head coach.

“They’ve been through a lot and first of all, my condolences still to Kevin McHale and his family with what they’ve been through this year. It’s very sad, but this team never gives up.

“They had 140 points last night and tied the NBA record in 3s, so we knew we had to defend the 3, but we made enough plays down the stretch and got enough stops.”

“We had a tough run scoring the basketball,” said Harden.

“We even got stops, but the big plays where we needed to make a play, they got stops — so that was the difference in the ballgame.”

Boston Celtics continued its good run since losing star point guard Rajon Rondo, following a 99-95 victory at the Toronto Raptors, with Kevin Garnett leading the way with 27 points. It was the fifth successive win for the Celtics since losing Rondo to an ACL tear which ended his season.

Oklahoma City Thunder ran over the Golden State Warrior 119-98 at Chesapeake Energy Arena, with Kevin Durant pacing the hosts, which are now 37-12, with 27 points.

In another NBA score on the Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Clippers a three game skid with an 86-76 victory over the Orlando Magic.

Elsewhere, the York Knicks were beaten 106-96 by the Washington Wizards, while the Memphis Grizzles were handed a 103-92 defeat at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks.
