(Sporting Alert) — No. 1 Alabama kept Western Kentucky out of the scoring zone on their way to an untouched 35-0 victory in their NCAA college football game on Saturday.
A.J. McCarron threw for four touchdown passes on 14-of-19 for 219 yards, while Kevin Norwood and Christion Jones each caught two scores for the defending champions, who are now 2-0 in the season.
It was also a smooth run for No. 2 Southern California, which posted a comfortable 42-29 victory over Syracuse – Matt Barkley was again impressive after equalling his own school record with six touchdown passes.
No. 3 LSU cruised to an easy 41-3 win over Washington, with Zach Mettenberger completing 12-of-18 passes for 195 yards for the Tigers (2-0), who extended their home win streak to 19 games.
Elsewhere, No. 4 Oregon 42 defeated Fresno State 25, No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners were 69-13 winners over Florida A&M, No.6 Florida State hammered Savannah State 55-0, while No. 14 Ohio State continued their winning start with a 31-16 victory over UCF.
There were shocking defeats, however, for No. 13 Wisconsin, who were edged 10-7 by Oregon State, No. 16 Nebraska were beaten 36-30 by UCLA, while No. 18 Oklahoma State were handed a stunning 59-38 defeat at the hands of Arizona.
