(Sporting Alert) — Tom Brady and Stevan Ridley combined well and defending AFC Champion New England Patriots opened their 2012/13 NFL campaign with a 34-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans at LP Field on Sunday afternoon.
The experienced Brady threw two touchdown passes for 236 yards and finished with 23-of-31 completed passes for New England (1-0), which out played their opponents in the fourth-quarter.
Meanwhile, Ridley rushed for a career-high 125 yards to go with his scoring attempt in the opening win.
Quarterback Jake Locker completed 23-of-32 passes for 229 yards for the Tennessee Titans in the defeat.
In another earlier game on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons picked up a 40-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Matt Ryan threw for three touchdowns and had 299 yards for the Falcons. He also ran for a score on the busy afternoon in Kansas City.
Matt Cassel had 21-of-33 passes for 258 yards with a touchdown for the Chiefs.
Dexter McCluster held on to six passes for 82 yards in the defeat.
In another result, the Detroit Lions got a late score and picked up a 27-23 win over the St. Louis Rams at Ford Field.
