IRVINE, California — No. 3 Central Methodist (Mo.) and No. 5 Missouri Valley will meet in the 2018 NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship at OC Great Park Soccer Stadium and live streaming will be available on ESPN3 and WatchESPN on Saturday.
Kick-off time for this championship game is set for 9:00 pm ET and viewers with a valid cable or satellite-provider ESPN3 login will be able to watch the stream live and uninterrupted.
Missouri Valley advanced to the championships game with a 2-1 victory over No. 1 William Carey University (Miss.).
The defeat was the first loss of the season for the Crusaders, who ended their season with a 20-1-1 record.
“It just wasn’t meant to be and I have to say congratulations to Missouri Valley,” said William Carey Head Coach Barry Farrell.
“When you look at it, it’s a great season. We’re disappointed. We’ll bounce back next year and go again.”
The Vikings, meaning, improved to 18-3-3 on the year.
Meanwhile, Central Methodist University (Mo.) progressed to the program to its first-ever NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship after also edging Madonna University (Mich.) 2-1 in its semi-final game.
Winning coach Alex Nichols was delighted with the win against what he described as “a good Madonna team.”
“At the end of the day, we did not put as many away as we would have liked, but that’s a good Madonna team that has beaten a ton of nationally ranked opponents,” Eagles coach Nichols said.
“That is a good team, but we got the job done and put the ball in. We are proud of the guys.”
Central Methodist improved to 21-2-2 on the season, while Madonna University ends the season with a 19-5 record.
