MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Manchester United are being heavily linked with a move for Hirving Lozano, but the Mexican international current manager Diego Alonso says no bid has been made for the player.
According to reports in England, United manager Jose Mourinho has had scouts watched Lozano in action and it was believed they were quite impressed with the visuals.
It was also being reported in recent days that Manchester United were close to signing the 20-year-old, with even the player’s father-in-law declaring that the attacking midfielder would be on his way to Old Trafford shortly.
Futbol Entre Lineas quoted his Lozano’s father-in-law as saying: “Yes. It’s all done. Just missing some details and, after the Olympics, the deal will become official.”
However, Pachuca manager Alonso has dismissed those reports and added that he is expecting the midfielder to be with the Mexican side after the transfer window closes.
“I am very calm because I know he [Lozano] has spoken with club officials,” Alonso was quoted as saying by Univision.
“He spoke with Jesus Martinez and they explained to him the reality of the situation.
“And the reality is that today he must be fully focused on Pachuca because there is absolutely nothing [with Manchester United].
“Logically there is going to be interest [from big clubs] but there have been no offers.
“If we get an offer he will be the first to know it, but we plan for El Chuky to be with us throughout the rest of the season.”
Manchester United manager Mourinho is understood to have taken a liking for the talented midfielder, and the Portuguese coach is particularly impressed by his speed and attitude about winning.
Lozano has made 47 appearances for Pachuca in the 2015-16 season and has scored 12 goals and assisted on 10 in almost 4000 minutes on the pitch.
Mourinho strongly believes that the player would be ideal for the English Premier League and could make a move for him before the summer transfer deals are cut off.
