Oklahoma, Oklahoma State tie for Midwest Regional Cross Country title

Springfield, Mo. (Sporting Alert) — Oklahoma men’s team has beaten Oklahoma State at the 2012 NCAA Division I Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships, according to the unofficial results.

Results: Official Women’s – 6K | Unofficial Men’s – 10 K

Both teams finished the championships on 45 points and ran very close with Tulsa University as well.

Oklahoma’s team time was 2:32:52.02, a little faster that Oklahoma State’s 2:32:52.60. The teams will now turn their attention to the NCAA Championships.

Another Oklahoma base program, Tulsa was third with 47 points, while Illinois and Missouri wrapped up the top five places.

Tulsa’s Chris O’Hare won the individual 10K race with a time of 30:25.87. Girma Mecheso of Oklahoma State took second in 30:26.39 with Patrick Casey ok Oklahoma finishing third in 30:28.61.
