INDIANAPOLIS (Sporting Alert) — Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel wasted no time in taking shots at the Miami Heat ahead of the teams Eastern Conference semifinals clash on Sunday.
Vogel, who many believes is looking for a way to mess with the heads of the Heat stars and staff, claims that Florida team – centered around the “Big Three” of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh – are the biggest flops in the NBA.
“They are the biggest flopping team in the NBA,” Vogel was quoted as telling reporters at Thursday’s practice session in Indianapolis.
“It’ll be very interesting (to see) how the referees officiate the series and how much flopping they reward.”
Vogel added on the Heat playing style: “Every drive to the basket, they have guys not making a play on the ball, but sliding in front of drivers.
“Oftentimes they’re falling down even before contact is even being made. It’ll be interesting to see how the series is officiated.”
Meanwhile, the Pacers have won 14 of its last 17 games, but were beaten on all three occasions against the Miami Heat James believes his team shouldn’t have much problems knocking them off.
“I don’t think they’ve given us too many problems, personally,” James said.
“We played some great ball against them. I think we gave them more problems than they gave us.”
