LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United will look extend its lead in the Barclays Premier League at Sunderland, while Inter Milan take on Juventus and Barcelona and Real Madrid take the field as well. Live TV Channel Schedule.
Manchester United, hold a 15 point lead in the EPL standings and could extend that to 18pts with a win over the struggle Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, with second place Manchester City not playing until two-hours later.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has seen his team play ugly, but still pick up maximum points and he said that is all that matters.
“I don’t care what I win it by,” said Ferguson. “It could be a dodgy goal off someone’s backside in the last minute of the last game of the season.
“It doesn’t bother me one bit. Winning the league is the issue.”
The Manchester United boss also admits that he was shock it the with his team’s massive point lead at this stage in the season.
“With Manchester City coming on the scene in the last couple of years and Chelsea and Arsenal and Tottenham, you have teams vying for that top-four position,” Ferguson was quoted as telling Sirius XM.
“I expected it to be really tight.
“The first point was that after last season, we wanted to make sure we didn’t lose it on goal difference, and that has improved markedly.
“But I never thought we would be 15 points clear at this stage of the season.”
Also in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday, Manchester City will take on Newcastle United, Arsenal hosting relegation threatened Reading, Chelsea visiting Southampton and Tottenham taking on Swansea.
Meanwhile, in the Serie A, leaders and defending champions Juventus will look to beat Inter Milan and move closer to lifting the title, while AC Milan travel to take on Chievo.
In the Spanish La Liga, runaway leaders Barcelona will look to warmup for their Champions League clash with PSG with a victory over Celta, while Real Madrid travel to take on Zaragoza.
