Premier League: Manchester United v Liverpool Team News

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United will start favorites to win their English Premier League game against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Sir Alex Ferguson side has a seven point lead in the EPL standings and could go ten clear at the top with a win, with Manchester City playing in the later game.

With leading striker Robin van Persie on sizzling form since his move from Arsenal in summer, Manchester United have been going good guns and are undefeated in their last ten domestic outings.

Van Persie was quick to rescue Ferguson men off the bench in the 2-2 draw with West Ham United in English FA Cup last week, and the Dutch star will return to the starting line-up for the Liverpool clash.

Midfielder Anderson and winger Nani are back in the Man United squad, following injury setbacks, but striker Wayne Rooney, despite returning to training this week, was not apart of the squad for the clash.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could start once again for the Reds after making his debut and scored in the FA Cup win at Mansfield on Sunday.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will also recall captain Steven Gerrard, goalkeeper Jose Reina and full-back Glen Johnson after the trio were rested for the Mansfield contest.

The predictors are backing Manchester United at 5/6 to win with 13/5 for a draw. Liverpool are at an even 3, to beat the Premier League leaders at the difficult Old Trafford stadium.

The Red Devils have won the last five  match-ups with Liverpool, including the 2-1 Premier League victory at Anfield in September.

Rafael Da Silva and van Persie, who scored a penalty kick in the 81st minute, where the scorers when these two teams last met.
