MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton were amongst the winners in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday. The Following are all the results and scores from the day.
At Old Trafford, Robin van Persie got the nod to start over Wayne Rooney and others and he scored in front of the United fans as the hosts edged Fulham 3-2.
Damien Duff gave Fulham the lead, but Van Persie, Shinji Kagawa and Rafael Da Silva all scored before the end of the first to give Manchester United a 3-1 lead.
A Nemanja Vidic’s own goal gave Fulham some life, but goalkeeper David De Gea, who was superb on the afternoon made sure United held on for the three points. Rooney, who came on as substitute had to be stretched off because of an injury.
Meanwhile, Chelsea kept its 100 percent record alive in the new campaign as Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres scored in the 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
Everton beat 10-man Aston Villa 3-1, with Steven Pienaar, Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic all scoring.
Swansea City grabbed another London scalp, following the 3-0 win over West Ham United, while Wigan turned back Southampton 2-0.
