LONDON (Sporting Alert) – Rafa Benitez tinker his Chelsea FC team selection and the Blues were stunned 1-0 by relegation battling QPR at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The all important winner came from substitute and former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, who fired home in the 78th minute after he was set up by Adel Taarabt to silence the home supporters.
Benitez was criticized for leaving out the likes of Ashley Cole, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata from his starting line-up, as his decision to start with Victor Moses, Oscar and Marko Marin didn’t turn out the way Spaniard had hoped.
The defeat saw Chelsea losing a four-match winning streak in the English Premier League, while QPR picked up its first victory at Stamford Bridge in 20-years.
“We were tired and weren’t precise. We made a mistake and gave them their chance,” Benitez said.
“I don’t regret the changes because we can’t carry on with the same players in every game.
“If you’re playing a team at the bottom of the table at home, you have to trust your players and I trust them.”
