MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Atletico Madrid made a fast start to the second leg of their Spanish Copa del Rey 5th round clash, but Real Madrid has pulled a goal back at Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday night.
Coming into the game leading 2-0, Atletico Madrid extended their advantage even further after Fernando Torres scored an early goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the game and a 3-0 advantage overall in the tie.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool forward fired his team into the lead inside the opening minute after he finished off a cross from Antoine Griezmann.
Sergio Ramos, however, headed home an equalizer in the 20th minute for Real Madrid, who now trails on aggregate, 3-1.
This now means that Real Madrid, who failed to score a goal during the away leg, must score three more goals and stop Atletico Madrid from scoring another.
It could be a very difficult night for the home side, who is facing the most organized side in Europe, this according to Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.
On the night, meanwhile, James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo all started, as Ancelotti went in search of the early goal.
However, it was the traveling side which took the lead in the opening minute of the contest.
Torres only got the start tonight after regular starter Mario Mandzukic came down with the flu.
Real Madrid was beaten 2-1 by Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Cup at the start of the season.
