Real Madrid beaten by Real Betis, as Ronaldo frustrated

(Sporting Alert) — Real Betis netted an early goal and then stifled Cristiano Ronaldo in a shocking 1-0 win over Real Madrid at Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

Benat Extebarria got the all important goal for Real Betis in the 17th minute, follow a poor clearance out of defence by Real Madrid.

The defeat leaves Jose Mourinho’s side with work to do, as a victory by Barcelona on Sunday would see the gap opening up to 11 points in the race for the Spanish La Liga title this season.

Real Madrid pushed and pushed in the final 20-minutes of the game in search of a goal, but with the likes of Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Mesut Ozil all failing to get free runs on the pitch, nothing happened for the defending champions.

The Whites looked as though they were still jaded from the Champions League draw with Manchester City in midweek.
