Real Madrid named Iker Casillas in squad to face Manchester United


MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Iker Casillas is a surprised inclusion in the Real Madrid 24-man traveling squad face Manchester United in Tuesday night’s Champions League last-16 clash at Old Trafford.

Casillas has not been on the sidelines since he fractured his left hand against Valencia in January, but returned to training last week.

The Spanish international and club captain is not expected to feature in the Manchester United game with only a few training sessions under his bent since returning Thursday.

Diego López is the man that will more than likely start against the Red Devils.

Real Madrid come into the contest on fabulous form after beating arch rivals Barcelona back-to-back in five days last week.

Manchester United beat Norwich City 4-0 in their last outing in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The Real Madrid squad also includes former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, along with Kaka, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema.

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Adán, Diego López and Jesús.
Defenders: Ramos, Arbeloa, Marcelo, Albiol, Varane, Pepe, Coentrão and Carvalho.
Midfielders: Modric, Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Kaká, Callejón, Di María and Essien.
Striker: Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuaín and Morata.
